Job Purpose: The Operating Engineer will operate power construction equipment, such as bulldozers, front- end loaders, backhoes, scrapers, motor graders, shovels and derricks. He/she may also be responsible for running large pumps or air compressors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive heavy construction equipment and control attachments, such as buckets, swing booms, scrapers and blades.
- Control water and air output of pumps and compressors.
- Ability to locate underground services and determine how deep they are.
- Perform equipment and materials inspections.
- Understand how to perform basic maintenance and repairs of equipment.
- Understand specifications and instructions, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of and strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Participate in accident / incident investigation as directed by safety department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Possess or the ability to possess a Class A CDL
- Member of IBEW Local 150
Working conditions: Position may require hours outside of regular business hours. Travel is required and will be based on job site location. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time. Must be able to walk, stand and work on uneven terrain for extended periods of
time.
