Nasha BlandGet to Know Our Hylan Family: Hylan Datacom & Electrical’s Nasha Bland, Administrative Support

We are excited to bring Hylan’s “Get to Know Our Hylan Family” blog series back to you in 2020! This is where we highlight members of our team and engage in a fun Q&A about the important work they do here at Hylan, what they like to do in their spare time and more.

Here is our featured Hylan Family member of the month: Nasha Bland. Nasha works for our Hylan Datacom & Electrical division in Holmdel, NJ.

Welcome, Nasha! Tell us, how did you come to work for Hylan as a company, and when?

In 2013, a great friend of mine was working at Hylan. She knew I was looking for part-time work and recommended me to a Hylan team member, Shari G, who was seeking to fill an administrative position immediately. After interviewing with her, I was hired and started working for Hylan initially as a file clerk and eventually got promoted to an Administrative Assistant position.

I currently work under and report to Roxzan B., who is the project manager for the Mobilitie, ExteNet, and Ericsson accounts, which I help her maintain and manage daily. That said, I also work closely with my other co-workers at Hylan to make sure that the billing and the customer’s closeout documents are processed and received in a timely manner.

Where do you live?

I live in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Where did you go to school and/or receive training?

I went to school at Advantage Career Institute in Eatontown, NJ, where I became a Certified Medical Coder/Biller and a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. I also attended Brookdale Community College, where I studied business management and earned my Real Estate Licenses.

Hylan Datacom & Electrical is where Hylan began. This year the company is now celebrating 60 years since it was founded in New York City. To date, the company has transformed into a growing force in the communication and electrical infrastructure space. What has been your experience watching Hylan Datacom & Electrical and the Hylan Companies evolve?

Watching the company grow and evolve into what it is today has been great! It’s been such an amazing experience and a wonderful journey that I am forever grateful to be a part of.

What do you most enjoy about working for Hylan Datacom & Electrical?

I enjoy the diversity. I also enjoy the fact that I’m constantly learning new things. Since I started working at Hylan in 2013, I have learned so much and will continue to learn even more.

When I started working at Hylan some years ago, I didn’t know what to expect. I came from the Medical field where I worked as a Medical Coder/Biller, but I started working for Hylan and instantly knew I no longer wanted to work in nor go back to the medical field.

Any recent exciting projects at Hylan Datacom & Electrical that you can tell us about?

Most of the projects that I help manage have been ongoing for quite some time, but I am looking forward to new projects in the near future.

What else is ahead for Hylan Datacom & Electrical in 2020?

Looking ahead, I expect to see a continuation of outstanding excellence and great leadership!

For young professionals seeking to enter the telecom and contracting industries, any special advice you can give to them?

I would tell them to go for it! You can do anything you want to do, but you have to be willing to put the work in.

Lastly, we have to ask – what do you enjoy doing outside of the workplace?

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, two beautiful daughters and just being a mother. I also enjoy reading, cooking and blogging for fun.
