Summer is finally here, and a new month means it is time for us to meet another member of Our Hylan Family! This month we are with Hylan Datacom & Electrical division, where we are being introduced to Expeditor Joe Nassour. Keep reading to learn more about his role at Hylan and how he spends his free time!

What led you to your position at Hylan Datacom & Electrical (HDE)?

I was fortunate to find the job opening at the time when HDE was growing its business, and I was able to get in at the right moment. The opportunity allowed me to apply my work skills and knowledge to the position that I’m currently in, and I worked hard to ensure that I was the right person that would handle the daily activities and any challenges.

How long have you worked there?

I have worked at HDE for four years now and am looking forward to many more years.

What does your role as Expediter entail at HDE?

My role at HDE is Expediter. I’m responsible for managing the flow of materials and machinery to and from various work sites or departments in a timely manner. I also manage interoffice deliveries.

What do you most enjoy about working for HDE, and Hylan as a whole?

Every day is so different! I have the benefit of working on many different projects and applying my skills and experiences. I’m fortunate to meet and work with people from different departments and connect with the management team on a daily basis. There’s always something new to learn.

What project and/or accomplishment are you most proud of with your work at HDE?

My job as an Expediter is to make sure that all supplies, materials and machinery are on the proper job sites. To me, every single project is important because I am contributing directly to the job’s timely and accurate completion. Getting the jobs done right and on time helps achieve Hylan’s goals and maintain our reputation. 

What are you most looking forward to for the rest of  2021 and beyond with HDE?

I’m looking forward to working on new and challenging projects and continuing to provide the best data and electrical solutions to our current markets. I am also looking forward to Hylan’s continued growth and expansion as an industry leader.

Where do you live?

I live in New Jersey with my wife and children.

Where did you go to school and/or get training?

I have over 20 years of experience working for the telecommunication industry for companies such as Bell Atlantic, RCN, Norvergence Inc. and Time Warner. I’ve worked as an Operations Manager for residential and commercial properties. My training came from working in the field and alongside upper executives to execute projects.

If you could address young college graduates or apprentices who are interested in a career with HDE or a similar company, what’s the best advice you can give them?

Learn to network within the company. There are many people who are willing to help or train you on the job and their experiences will make your job more productive and effective. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Now, just to get a little personal! Tell us what you like to do in your free time.

I enjoy golfing with my friends and socializing with other golfers. I love to take on new DIY projects at home and apply the skills that I have learned on the job.
