We are pleased to announce the unveiling of Hylan Academy, a comprehensive training and career-planning program for new and existing Hylan employees. This effort directly addresses the shortage of skilled utility construction workers in the United States by offering an efficient training process to newcomers. The programs are focused on familiarizing new employees with the complex utility builds that we at Hylan are known for our expertise in. In addition, the program will also support our existing Hylan Family by offering cross-training and career roadmaps.

These efforts are all designed to support our company’s mission: “building careers for our people.” Our grassroots, hands-on mobile technologies learning center will begin its journey from Des Moines, Iowa on June 28. We are thrilled to bring this unique program across the country and begin reinvigorating our workforce with new talent. The utility construction industry requires skilled workers to perform the complex builds that we undertake regularly. Oftentimes, this skill comes from knowledge passed down from older generations of construction workers. To ensure we can continue this knowledge-sharing, we must keep a viable workforce.

Slade Ottney, President of our Hylan West division, has led us in the launch of Hylan Academy. “We could not be more excited about the launch of Hylan Academy, a cutting-edge program that will be a great way to quickly and effectively bring more skilled workers into our industry,” says Ottney. “The extensive curriculum will focus on the education of industry best practice methodology to build and prepare a sustainable construction-capable workforce to be more efficient in a shorter timeframe with the experience to mitigate work loss time due to return trips or quality issues.”

We are also pleased to incorporate new programs that will provide more complete career opportunities for our existing Hylan employees. Through career-planning services, cross-training programs and educational courses, employees will have the chance to get as much as they can out of their tenure as part of the Hylan Family. As our CEO, Robert DiLeo stated: “At Hylan, we truly value our employees. We need to make sure that our existing Hylan Family is supported in the field, and we want to be sure that all of the new trainees feel comfortable and have a handle on our operations. Hylan Academy will ensure both of these goals are achieved, and the program supports our core values.”
