As HYLAN preps and plans for its Sixth Annual Golf Tournament and Customer Appreciation event, taking place just a little over two months away, we have an exciting announcement to make today. As part of a detailed and careful selection process, we are proud to announce that this year’s event will support The New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID). NJID is dedicated to the care and treatment of infants, children and adults with developmental and related disabilities and their families.
Originally founded in 1949 as the Cerebral Palsy Treatment Center of Middlesex County, the organization grew extensively over the years to expand its services beyond Middlesex County and to best meet the changing and emerging needs of those with disabilities of all ranges. In 2008, the organization thus changed its name to the New Jersey Institute for Disabilities. Today, the organization spans 41 service sites throughout four counties in New Jersey and has a caring, dedicated, well trained staff of over 500 employees who serve more than 1,500 individuals and their families.
“Year after year, through our annual HYLAN Golf Tournament and the support of our invaluable community partners and sponsors, we are privileged to be able to support some of the most notable and worthy causes in our region,” commented Robert DiLeo, CEO and Chairman of HYLAN. “This year, we are proud to once again bring together our HYLAN family, customers, partners and friends for a wonderful day and evening of golf, networking, food, prizes and fun – all of which will benefit the great organization that is NJID.”
“For 75 years, the New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID) has offered specialized facilities, programs and support for infants, children and adults with developmental and related disabilities. Throughout our history, NJID has been blessed by generous benefactors and friends and today we are filled with heartfelt gratitude to be selected by HYLAN as beneficiary of their legendary golf tournament. Proceeds from the event will be directed to the construction of a new Adult Training Center in Barnegat, NJ. There is now a critical need for services for individuals in southern Ocean County and NJID has created a bold response to this need,” said Venus Majeski, NJID Director of Development & Community Relations.
Preliminary plans and local approvals are now in process and groundbreaking of the 10,000 square foot building is anticipated in late Fall, 2024. Up to 65 individuals will discover pathways to independence through activities and opportunities designed to support every person’s choice and potential. The Center will include innovative and accessible technology and a creatively designed Snoezelen Room providing a therapeutic environment with a variety of sensory experiences to engage and calm individuals by providing soothing stimuli.
“The financial empowerment, so graciously provided by HYLAN, enables the creation of programs to meet the emerging and changing needs of persons with disabilities. This gift will have a visible and profound impact on the delivery of services for persons with disabilities in New Jersey and we are humbled and grateful for this gift.”
NJID works hard to enrich the lives and enhance the development of each infant, child and adult with intellectual, developmental and related disabilities to enable each individual to achieve their full potential. For more information, visit www.NJID.org.
